Our neighbors at Montgomery History (MH) (http://montgomeryhistory.org/) (originally the Montgomery County Historical Society), and their Executive Director, Matt Logan, invite residents of the West End to attend a special meeting at:Beall-Dawson House on Thursday, October 6, starting at 7 pm.
Beall-Dawson House is best accessed from W Middle Lane, in the block between N Adams Street and N Van Buren Street. Parking is available in a small lot facing W Middle Lane and also along the adjoining and nearby streets. See map below.
Beall-Dawson House is owned by the City of Rockville. Under agreement with the City, MH uses the Beall-Dawson House as a museum and exhibition space (along with the Stonestreet Museum of 19th Century Medicine and MH's Research Library, both on the grounds). MH owns the two adjoining houses (111 & 113 W Montgomery Avenue).
Matt joined MH in late 2014. His goal is to revitalize the organization to enhance its relevance, vibrancy and impact. Matt, his staff, and the MH board of directors, are interested in finding ways to better leverage Beall-Dawson House, built in 1815 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as a historic resource and destination.
No plans are yet formulated. Matt would very much like to engage West End residents in a collaborative conversation about creating a vision for Beall-Dawson House, then work in partnership with the West End neighborhood going forward.Here is the anticipated program for this October 6th meeting:

9:00 pm – DepartureMatt looks forward to meeting as many West End residents as possible on October 6. Matt is also planning to attend the WECA General Meeting on October 20 at 7 pm at Rockville Presbyterian Church (more about the full agenda for that meeting to come).
